I have never been to a business coach. What should I expect?


Business coaching is an active, engaged process where you will be asked questions and given the support you need to reach your goals. It is a purposeful time for you to reflect on your business and proactively plan to make it better. It is like having a personal trainer at the gym. The trainer does not do all the work, but they help make your time at the gym more productive.

Practically, you should expect me to ask a lot of questions, listen well, give encouragement, ask you to think about things in a new way and challenge you when needed. I will give tips, tools and advice to help move you toward your goals. I will assign "homework" to help implement the changes we talk about in our time together. If challenges come up between sessions, I'm just a phone call away. My truest desire is to see you succeed.

Lastly, you should expect coaching to make a real impact on your business. Find a coach you feel comfortable with, be ready to make changes and expect that changes will happen! Coaching is not an overnight miracle. To be honest, it is hard work. But good things will come.




How do I choose a coach?


Due to the personal nature of coaching, you should choose someone you feel you can trust. Find someone with whom you are comfortable and who has a specialty in the area you are seeking to make changes. If you are looking for an executive coach, for example, I am not for you.

This is one reason I do a 30-minute no-cost consultation. While I want to know more about you, I also want you to know more about me. If I am not a great fit for you, I would be happy to help you find someone who is better suited for you and your business goals.




What is a session actually like?


We will talk about your overall goals, address any challenges since the last session and plan strategies for the coming days and weeks. Each session is highly tailored to you and your business, and it is a conversation, not a lecture.

My commitment to you is that you are 100% my priority during this time. I will be physically and mentally present to focus on you and your business without interruption. My hope is that you will do the same.

Appointments will be by video chat or phone. If you are in the Minneapolis-St Paul, MN area, I would be happy to meet at your office or a neighborhood coffee shop.




Will business coaching actually produce results?


The short answer is yes.

The longer answer is, it depends. A coach can help you define a vision, give support and tools, etc., but they cannot do the work for you. The greatest determining factor of change is you. If you are ready to commit to making changes in how you think, how you work and how you do business, you are ready for coaching!




Am I ready for coaching?


If you can answer these questions, you are ready:

  • Why do I want a business coach?
  • What do I want to be different in my business after meeting with a business coach?
  • What do I want a business coach to bring to the table?
  • Am I ready to make changes in how I run my business?
  • Am I willing to make the time to put into practice what I am learning?




What are your payment options/terms?


I accept payments by credit card or check. Before our first session, we will fill out a Coaching Agreement which will define the payment schedule in more detail. For On-Going Coaching, the fee will be invoiced on the same day each month. For the 30 Day Intensive, half of the fee is due up front and the remainder is due 30 days later. Single Session and Group Coaching are invoiced as determined by both parties.




What if I can't make a meeting we have set?


If you are not able to make an appointment, please let me know 24 hours in advance. If you are unable to give 24 hours' notice (barring unexpected emergency), you will forfeit the session and any fees associated with that meeting.
